My first necklace

This piece was a little more difficult than the first one. I had to curl the wire around a crochet needle, then cut the pieces to make little springs. I then had to file each end of the springs so that they don't snag on your clothing. I then had to link all of the little springs to form a chain. Good times.

My next project will be a ring or another necklace with more elaborate design.

My first bracelet and earrings

When I first saw the instructions for this set, I thought that I would never be able to make it. However, I bucked up and went to the craft store to purchase the necessary materials and tools. I bought a simple tool kit for $15 and a role of copper wire for $3.

Here is what I made.

This took me approximately 10 hours. It was definitely a learning curve. My darling boyfriend even showed me how to use the pliers correctly. :)

I think my first pieces are very pretty. I've worn them to work and people notice them right away. One individual even asked me if I sold them. This is one of my goals, even if it's just one set.

Why wire jewelry?

I've always liked working with my hands. As a child, I loved playing with sand, baker's clay, paints, etc. My father and sister are extremely artistic when it comes to drawing and painting. I did inherit some of this talent but was not able to develop it because of my lack of patience. I'm the type of person who likes quick results, so painting, drawing or sculpting weren't for me.

My mother is a very talented seamstress and knitter. She tried teaching me those two skills but I never really stayed interested long enough. I can sew or knit, but not very well. LOL.would never consider these two activities hobbies of mine.

I've searched high and low for a hobby that would interest. I then learned that there are people out there who make wire jewelry. This piqued my interest because I've always loved jewelry and metal. Sounds weird, I know.

Anyhow, I browsed online about wire jewelry making and seen some very beautiful pieces. I thought to myself that this would be interested. Therefore, I headed to my local library and picked up a book on wire jewelry for beginners.

My journey starts from there...

This is my first post

I'm just looking for a space where I can showcase my new hobby, making wire jewelry. We'll see how it goes.
